Subsidy Removed, But Where Is Relief? Owokoniran Queries Tinubu Over Ever-Increasing Hardship And Suffering

OWOKONIRAN CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY, SAYS ATIKU AND AMAECHI OFFER ROSIER ECONOMIC DIRECTION.

Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, an ADC chieftain in the South-West, has questioned why millions of Nigerians continued to struggle with high petrol prices, expensive food, rising transport fares and declining purchasing power despite the additional revenue generated following petrol subsidy removal.

“If the government has saved trillions of naira, Nigerians deserve to see the benefits in their daily lives. Where is the relief for the ordinary worker, trader, farmer and struggling family?” he asked in a Press Release on Saturday.

He called for transparent accounting of subsidy removal revenue and demanded that governments at all levels should demonstrate how the additional funds had improved citizens’ welfare.

He urged Nigerians to support the ADC presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, highlighting their stated policy direction, which includes:

* Lowering fuel costs through support for domestic refining and a proposed production subsidy.

* Reducing economic hardship by addressing the cost of transportation and essential goods.

* Creating jobs by supporting businesses, investment and local industries.

* Improving living standards through policies aimed at reducing poverty and expanding economic opportunities.

“These are campaign commitments whose success would depend on effective implementation and accountability,” said Owokoniran and called on Nigerians to scrutinise the candidates’ plans and participate actively in the 2027 elections.

“Nigeria needs an economy that works for its people. Nigerians should not continue to endure hardship without demanding accountability.

“It is time to examine the alternatives, demand practical solutions and insist on leadership that delivers measurable results.”

He urged citizens to support the ADC and vote for Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, while holding all political leaders accountable for their promises.
