The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Senator Aishatu Ahmed, also known as Binani, challenging the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.
Delivering judgement, Justice John Okoro on Wednesday held that Binani’s suit was lacking in merit.
Okoro also held that a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) lacked the power to announce election results.
Also, the court affirmed the election of Ahmed Aliyu as Sokoto State Governor.
Delivering judgement, Justice Tijani Abubakar dismissed the appeal by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Saidu Umar, while agreeing with the reasoning of the election tribunal
