Tinubu Allegedly Threatened With N500bn Suit Over Impersonated NYSC Photograph –Social Media Claims
Social media is abuzz with claims that a Mr. Olamide Salami Kayode, 52, who reportedly alleges to be the real person in the widely circulated National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) photograph of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has threatened to sue the Nigerian President for N500 billion.
Reportedly opening up on the matter for the first time since Tinubu’s team began circulating the NYSC photograph in 1998 for the governorship of Lagos State, Kayode reportedly claims he had had enough of the impersonation.
Officially, Tinubu said he undertook his NYSC in Oyo State from November or December 1982 to November 1983.
However, this Kayode says he was prepared to file a ₦500 billion lawsuit against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if his image was used again for political propaganda.
According to reports, the accuser’s message is unequivocal: “Leave my face out of your politics. I’ve kept quiet long enough.”
Tinubu’s educational and NYSC participations have often been the subject of intense public acrimony, over discrepancies in his submitted Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) forms.
Unlike previous polls, dor the coming 2027 polls, Tinubu left blank primary and secondary school records.
He stated via affidavit that his certificates were stolen or lost during the military junta’s raids while he was in exile in the 1990s.
Critics noted this conflicted with prior 1999 and 2003 filings where he claimed basic education certificates.
Past legal challengers and critics highlighted that the name on his submitted NYSC certificate read “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” whereas other records reference different middle names or initials (such as Ahmed), raising questions about the origin of “Adekunle.”
However, Chicago State University (CSU) verified that Tinubu attended and graduated with a business degree in 1979.
Opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar used these records in legal and electoral challenges, but the Nigerian Supreme Court ultimately dismissed the cases, ruling that the extra-judicial evidence did not legally invalidate the election outcome.
