Tinubu Lands In Lagos From Paris To Honour MKO Abiola, Waves Off Sickness Talks
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, dismissing reports of him suffering from an illness and had been undergoing treatment in France.
Speaking to newsmen after he arrived in Nigeria from France on Tuesday evening, Tinubu declared himself “healthy, sound, and ready to go.”
The President said there was nothing wrong with him.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong. Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” the President said.
According to a statement a few moments ago by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), the Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
On Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections.
President Tinubu will return to Abuja after his Lagos engagements.He departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation.
Having spent one week in London, he headed to Paris, where he stayed until he flew back into the country on Tuesday.
While in Paris, he attended a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron.
He also met with business leaders, including Mr Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, he also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola.
