Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima says Professor Ishaq Oloyede has created a record as the first Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to make over N50 billion for the Federal Government in one year.
Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, spoke on Wednesday at a public engagement organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He said Oloyede’s appointment marked a significant shift in the Nigerian public sector’s approach to corruption as JAMB had never made up to $1 million.
The dialogue on “Youth, Religion, and the Fight against Corruption” was held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, where the Fraud Risk Assessment Project for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies was also launched by the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
Shettima said, “One person I always respect is Prof Ishaq Oloyede. Over the years, JAMB never made upto $1 million for the Federal Government.
“However, when Prof Oloyede assumed office, JAMB made over ₦50 billion for the Federal Government in one year.”
Other dignitaries present at the dialogue were the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; a former Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola; and the Ọọni of Ifẹ, Ọba Enitan Ogunwusi.
Others were the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; the President, Christian Association of Nigeria; the Chairperson, Nigeria Committee of Vice Chancellors, Professor Lilian Salami; and the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
