Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the reintroduction of Nigerian History as a subject in basic education.
Speaking on Tuesday during Channels Television’s End-of-Year Special Review Show, Alausa stated, “President Tinubu has mandated the return of Nigerian History as a subject in basic education.”
The teaching of history is as a subject in the country’s basic education curriculum is being restored after it was scrapped 13 years ago in 2009.
The Late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua’s government adopted the policy reportedly because students claimed there were few job openings for history graduates.
