Eight Labour Party (LP) lawmakers in the Anambra State House of Assembly have donated their personal salaries for six months to cushion the suffering of the people.
They also advised the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pay attention to the current sufferings and take step to bring relief to the common citizens as a matter of national emergency.
Spokesman of the group, Jude Ifeanyi Umennajiego, representing Onitsha South II, called on the federal and state governments to suspend work on all other sectors, including infrastructure, for the next six months and declare a state of emergency on security and hunger in the nation.
The lawmakers announced the gesture in a briefing on Thursday in Awka
They said their donation formed their own contribution to alleviating the suffering of Nigerians grappling with extraordinary hardship under the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
