The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the doctor managing the Kuje Correctional Centre’s health facility, after Binance executive, Tygran Gambaryan, showed up on a wheelchair.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued the warrant over Dr. Abraham Ehizojie’s failure to produce the medical report of Binance executive, Tygran Gambaryan, or appear in court as previously ordered.

Gambaryan and his co-executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, are facing charges of concealing the origin of their company’s alleged unlawful activities’ financial proceeds, totalling $35,400,000, contrary to the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Gambaryan’s lawyer, Mark Mordi, expressed concern for his client’s health, citing back pain.

Mordi said: “My client came in here in a wheelchair. He has been complaining of back pain. We need to be careful of the life in our hands.”

Expressing disappointment in the government institution’s lack of regard for court orders, Justice Nwite granted the request that Gambaryan be taken to Nizamiye Hospital for a 24-hour medical checkup under full security.

Subsequently, Justice Nwite adjourned the case to October 11, 2024.
