Trump Shares CCTV Footage Of Assassination Suspect, Now Identified As A Teacher Allen Thomas Cole
U.S. President Donald Trump has shared CCTV footage and images of the suspect involved in the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.
Details emerged that 31 years old Allen Thomas Cole, a teacher, was the shooter that wounded one security service agent while on his way to cause more havoc at the White House Correspondent dinner held at the White House banquet hall. He was later taken down by the law enforcement agents and secret service agents.
Mr Allen Cole is alive and he has been taken into custody.
The footage, released moments before the president addressed the media, reportedly shows the suspect running into the ballroom of the Washington Hilton, bypassing security metal detectors as armed agents moved to intercept him.
Trump also shared images appearing to show a shirtless man lying face down in the foyer with his hands restrained behind his back, believed to be the suspected gunman.
Describing the suspect as a “would-be assassin,” Trump said the individual was heavily armed and had breached a key security checkpoint before being stopped.
According to reports by BBC, the president stated that the suspect “charged past a security checkpoint” carrying multiple weapons.
He added that one law enforcement officer was shot during the incident but survived due to wearing a bulletproof vest.
The shooting occurred on Saturday night during the high-profile White House Correspondents’ Dinner, triggering panic and forcing the evacuation of top government officials, journalists, and guests.
Authorities have since confirmed that the suspect is in custody, while investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the breach are ongoing.
