The University of Benin has appointed Professor Edoba Omoregie, as the new Vice-Chancellor.
The new Vice-Chancellor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a specialist in constitutional law and governance, will be succeeding the incumbent, Professor Lillian Salami, whose tenure expires on 1st December 2024.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Professor Shaibu Umaru, announced the appointment on Friday in Benin.
According to Umaru, Omoregie emerged as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the university from 27 Professors who applied for the coveted position.
Born on 5th April 1969, Professor Omoregie is a native of Benin and attended the University of Benin for his first, second, and third degrees.
Having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992, he became Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2021.
