The list above covers 28 states, and certain voices have seized on that number to tell anyone who will listen that the African Democratic Congress has no candidates in eight states. It is a claim that collapses the moment anyone consults a calendar. Governorship elections in Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Edo, Anambra, Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa do not hold alongside the general election at all.
Those eight states run on their own off-season cycles, following the court judgments that separated their tenures from the national timetable, and no party fields governorship candidates for them in this exercise because there is no election in them to contest. And if what they mean is that eight of the 28 states on this list have no candidates, such delinquent individuals can now see for themselves that ADC has candidates in all 28 states due for election in 2027, each with a deputy, all of them signed off and published.
Their absence from this release is a matter of the electoral calendar, not of ADC’s readiness. Where those states come due, the party will field candidates in the same manner it has done here. Those peddling the falsehood display the sort of juvenile delinquency that mistakes noise for argument and rumour for research, and anyone who does not know which states vote off-season has no business auditing another party’s structure.
Five minutes with the electoral timetable would have spared them the embarrassment of being corrected by a single sheet of paper. The pattern is familiar enough. When you cannot argue with a party’s message, you invent a party without candidates. It is easier work, and it is also the reason nobody outside their payroll takes the claim seriously.
