Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, March 6, expressed displeasure over the movement of cattle within Abuja city and vowed to end the practice.

Wike assured that plans were already afoot to stop cattle herders roaming their animals within the city centre in search of grass and sales.

The former Rivers State Governor divulged the plan in Abuja when he hosted the Belgian Envoy to Nigeria, Ambassador Daniel Bertrand.

According to Wike, discussions had been initiated with relevant stakeholders on the need to end the menace of cows and sheep roaming through a modern city as Abuja was.

He also noted that waging the war against insecurity in FCT demanded a multifaceted approach, a method the administration was already adopting to defeat criminalities.

Wike added that his administration has also intensified partnership drive with the private sector transportation players, in a bit to beef up security in the city.

Ambassador Daniel Bertrand had himself earlier raised concerns over the roaming of cattle on the streets of Abuja, while making his own remarks.

Bertrand expressed satisfaction, learning that the Minister had initiated a fight against the menace.

Bertrand also said he would get investors from his country to partner with FCTA in the development of the nation’s capital and Nigeria.
