BREAKING: Atiku Visits Home Of Angry Amaechi After ADC Presidential Primaries

Nigeria’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, today Thursday visited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi at his Abuja residence.

At the conclusion of the ADC primaries, Atiku emerged the winner, with Amaechi as the runner-up.

However, before the final declaration of the result late on Wednesday, Amaechi and the third man on the ballot, Hayatu-Deen, had alleged that the primaries had been rigged in favour of Atiku and they would not accept its outcome.

According to the official final results, Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes, Amaechi 504,117, Hayatudeen 177,120, with total votes cast in the election put at 2,546,457, out of a total party membership of 3,113,599.

The winner Atiku went accompanied by Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Chief Ralph Nwosu, and other party leaders.

Sources at the meeting said the visit enabled the ADC leaders to hold high-level consultations focused on reconciliation, unity, and strengthening of the party ahead of “the bigger national task before the opposition. The meeting aimed to unify party ranks following the ADC presidential primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“As Atiku stated yesterday after the presidential primaries, ‘There is no winner and there is no loser.’ The primaries were simply a democratic process to choose a flag bearer. Now is the time for unity, partnership, and collective resolve in the mission to rescue Nigeria.”

According to the sources, the politicians used the occasion to mend fences.

The source said on X Twitter: “Differences were resolved, hands were shaken, the bigger mission prevailed. HE Amaechi has congratulated HE Atiku and pledged support.

“The coalition is growing stronger! Those hoping for division may need to adjust their expectations!

According to sources, both politicians expressed their commitment to working together to ensure the ADC presented a united front in the upcoming 2027 general election.

The ADC gladiators acknowledged the importance of collective effort and collaboration to achieve victory, the sources said.

Sources further disclosed: “The discussion focused on strategies to integrate their respective campaign teams and supporters, with the shared goal of maximising the party’s chances of success in the election.

“This alliance signals a strong intent to move forward harmoniously, setting aside internal competition for the greater good of the party.”

Reportedly, Atiku reaffirmed during the visit: “There is no winner and no loser. Now is the time for unity, partnership, and collective resolve.”

The party’s leadership, led by Senator David Mark, officially presented the party flag to Atiku Abubakar after he was declared the winner of the primary.

The African Democratic Congress commenced its presidential primary process on Monday, May 25, 2026, with party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory participating in the exercise.
