Obasanjo Has Zero Electoral Value, Became President By Grace Of North After Yoruba Rejected Him –Atiku
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, Presidential Candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, insists his former boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, lacks any modicum of political or electoral value.
Both men have not been on good terms since they left office in 2007 after completing their second term of eight years as President and Vice President, respectively.
Atiku has often said that his opposition to Obasanjo’s third-term bid came from his zeal to defend Nigeria’s Constitution and democracy rather than out of personal loyalty; but that OBJ had refused to forgive him for the principled stand.
Obasanjo too has described Atiku as his worst political mistake and often called his former Number 2 a thief and corrupt public official.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, August 19, Atiku said he was not bothered by Obasanjo’s refusal to endorse him.
“In 1999, he could not even win his own state or the Yoruba South-West; it was Arewa (North) that made him President. He possesses no electoral value,” Atiku said.
Speaking on the 2027 general elections, Atiku said that as Vice President of Nigeria he gave many young Nigerians the opportunity to serve in government.
According to him, some of them are now governors, ministers, directors and holders of other important positions, adding that if he became President, young Nigerians would continue to be given opportunities to serve and lead.
