Sadiq Azeez-Babatunde Urges Nigerians To Renew Hope, Responsibility At 66
A House of Assembly candidate for Ifo II State Constituency of Ogun State, Hon. Sadiq Azeez-Babatunde, has urged Nigerians to use the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary to renew their commitment to nation-building, unity and responsible citizenship.
Azeez-Babatunde, in an Independence Day message, described the anniversary as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey since the country gained independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
He said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the nation’s independence, stressing that it should also serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility of Nigerians to build a better country.
The politician said a better Nigeria remained possible if citizens and leaders contributed positively to the development of their communities and the country at large.
He said, “A better Nigeria is possible, but it must be built by Nigerians— in our homes, schools, markets, offices, farms, communities and places of leadership.”
Azeez-Babatunde also called for greater emphasis on unity, integrity, competence and service, urging Nigerians to reject divisive tendencies and selfish interests.
He added, “May we choose unity over division, integrity over corruption, competence over sentiment, and service over selfishness.”
The Ifo II State constituency candidate congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and expressed optimism that the country could achieve greater progress through collective effort and responsible leadership.
He wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day, saying, “God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
