ADC National Convention Expels Factional Chairman Bala Gombe, Others

Citing anti-party activities, creation of factions and causing disaffection amongst members, the opposition African Democratic Congress ADC’s National Convention has affirmed the motion for delegates to ratify the expulsion of some members.

They include Nafiu Bala Gombe, factional National Chairman, whose court case led to the electoral commission INEC delisting the Senator David Mark leadership.

The expulsion action in Abuja on Tuesday affected the likes of:

  • Nafiu Bala Gombe
  • Hon Leke Abejide
  • Johnny Tovie Derek
  • Kingsley Temitope Ogga
  • Kennedy Odion Osas
  • Don-Norman Obinna
  • Stella Chukwuma
  • Clement Obah Ehigiator
  • Patrick Ambut
  • Elias Adiukwu

Chinedu Idigo, the party’s organising secretary, accused the ousted members of undermining the party by fueling internal divisions.

“They have sown seeds of discord within the party and sought to create factions, doubts, and confusion across the polity, the public and regulatory authorities, thereby causing instability within the party,” he said.

“They were given time to retrace their actions but failed to do so.”

On April 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) derecognised Mark-led faction following an interim ruling of the Court of Appeal.

The Supreme Court has fixed April 22 to hear an appeal filed by Mark against a suit instituted by Bala, challenging his leadership.
