ADC National Vice Chair, South West Zone Owokoniran Laments Insecurity, Sufferings Under Tinubu
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Vice Chairman, South-West Zone, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, has strongly condemned the worsening insecurity and deepening economic hardship across Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview with ADC Media Network 2.0, Owokoniran described the recent comments by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on insecurity as insensitive and disconnected from reality.
Akpabio the said last week that the recent upsurge in insecurity across parts of the country was politically motivated, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the attempts were to discredit President Bola Tinubu, adding that two wreeks after the general elections, the attacks and bombing would fizzle out.
According to Owokoniran, Nigerians are living through one of the most difficult periods in it’s history, and leadership must stop trivializing the crisis.
Hon. Owokoniran pointed out that: “Food prices and cost of living have risen sharply, making basic survival difficult for millions of Nigerians.
“The naira has experienced significant depreciation, increasing the cost of goods and services.
“Reports of kidnappings, banditry, and violent attacks are escalating across several states, leaving citizens feeling unsafe in their own communities.
“These are not political talking points, these are daily realities for Nigerians.”
He argued that under the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there has been a visible gap between government responses and the urgency of the problems on ground.
“This is not the time for excuses or deflection. Nigerians deserve leadership that confronts problems head on, takes responsibility, and delivers measurable results,” he added.
Hon. Owokoniran called on Nigerians to demand accountability, question ineffective policies, and reject narratives that downplay their suffering.
He reaffirmed that ADC offered a credible alternative focused on security reform, economic recovery, and people-centered governance.
“Nigeria is too important to fail. With ADC, we can restore security, stabilize the economy, and rebuild trust in leadership,” he assured.
