ADC Stakeholders Report Secretary Aregbesola To National Chairman David Mark Over Manipulation Of Primaries Lists In South-West

PETITION AGAINST THE UNILATERAL AND DIVISIVE CONDUCT OF PARTY AFFAIRS IN THE SOUTH WEST BY OGBENI RAUF AREGBESOLA

To:
The National Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Cc: Coalition Leaders, National Working Committee, Deputy National Chairman, National Vice Chairman South West, and Other Relevant Stakeholders.

Subject: Urgent Call for Review of the Current Process and Restoration of Internal Democracy in the South West

We, the South West stakeholders, party leaders, youths, and committed members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), write to express our deep concern, dissatisfaction, and strong condemnation of the ongoing unilateral handling of party affairs in the South West under the influence of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The recently released list of State Primary Election Committees and Appeal Committees has generated widespread outrage and disappointment among party faithful across the South West due to its obvious one sided composition and lack of inclusiveness.

The process clearly excluded other critical stakeholders, national leaders, and various interest groups within the party structure.

This development has created division, distrust, and avoidable crisis within the party at a very sensitive political period when unity, fairness, and inclusiveness should be our guiding principles.

It is important to state that one of the major objectives of the recent meeting between Hon. Rahman Owokoniran the national vice chairman, south west and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was to promote reconciliation, restore confidence among aggrieved members, and encourage transparent and democratic processes capable of bringing back many committed members who had distanced themselves from the party due to perceived marginalization and lack of fairness from Aragbesola.

Unfortunately, the present arrangement and the composition of the committees do not reflect the spirit of consultation, equity, and internal democracy expected within a progressive political party. The current process gives the impression of an attempt to monopolize party structures and influence party primaries in favor of a selected group of loyalists and cronies.

We strongly believe that if the ADC must present itself to Nigerians as a credible democratic alternative, the party must first demonstrate internal democracy, fairness, transparency, and equal participation for all stakeholders.

In view of the foregoing, we respectfully call on the National Chairman and the Coalition Leaders to urgently intervene and immediately review the entire process by ensuring the inclusion and active participation of:

The Deputy National Chairman,

The National Vice Chairman, South West Zone,

Other National Leaders from the South West,

Recognized national stakeholders,

Youth leaders,

Women leaders,

and all relevant interest groups within the party.

We further demand that all future decisions and committee compositions affecting the South West must emerge through broad consultation, fairness, and collective agreement rather than unilateral imposition.

ADC belongs to all members and stakeholders, not to any single individual or faction.

We remain committed to the unity, growth, and electoral success of our great party and trust that the leadership will act swiftly to prevent further disaffection and restore confidence among members across the South West.
