Right on schedule, Nigeria’s private-owned Air Peace today Saturday, March 30, commenced flights to London, UK.
It marked the milestone with a ceremony at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport attended by Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo.
Airline owner, Allen Onyema said: “Today marks another significant milestone in our trajectory as a foremost airline as we launched direct flights to London, bringing to 7 our international destinations.
“This signals our entry into the European continent and further reflects our commitment to conmecting cities.
“Lagos-London-Lagos service has commenced.”
Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi tweeted:
“I join other well-meaning Nigerians in congratulating the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, and his entire team at Air Peace Ltd, as they commence their direct flights to London, United Kingdom.”
The terminal for Air Peace flight operations to London is Southern Terminal, Gatwick Airport.
In February, Air Peace had announced the commencement of direct flight operations to London on March 30, 2024, with the inaugural flight scheduled for 12:10 am.
The Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Oluwatoyin Olajide, assured stakeholders that the London operations would be carried out daily with Boeing 777 aircraft and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, disclosed that all airline agents would receive a unified commission regardless of their size and status.
Onyema said, “What we want from you is to tell us how you want to make it happen. I have told them (the management) that we are going to have a unified commission. Everybody, whether small or large, will have the same commission. And please, when we are going wrong, feel free to advise us.”
In November, Air Peace revealed it had obtained the Foreign Carrier Operator Permit and Third Country Operator Permit to operate flights to Europe and the United Kingdom.
