A mighty elephant in the Yoruba and Nigerian film industry, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has fallen, and succumbed to death after a protracted battle with cancer.

The iconic veteran Nollywood Actor died a few moments ago today, Sunday, August 23, 2026, following a battle with stage-four cancer.
Born October 31, 1959, he was 66 years old.
The Actor’s daughter Kira Hassan, wept in a Tiktok live session, as she announced her father’s death.
The family had last week publicly appealed for medical assistance regarding his severe health condition.
Ogogo entertained millions in Nigeria and beyond for over two decades with memorable performances that made him one of the enduring faces of Yoruba cinema.
On screen, he played the compassionate lover, the fearless warrior, the doting father, the powerful chief and several other unforgettable characters.
He will be remembered as a legendary figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly known for his work in Yoruba-language cinema spanning over four decades.
