Theatre Artists Announce Death Of Veteran Actor Jimi Solanke
The National Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) has announced the passing of a veteran Artist and Musician, Jimi Solanke.
A statement from NANTAP President Israel Eboh and approved by Solanke’s family, said that the veteran, a regular face since the days of NTV (now NTA) television network, died this Monday afternoon.
He was aged 82.
Eboh’s statement said:
“With total submission to God Almighty, we announce the death of Sir Jimi Solanke, who transited to the great beyond this afternoon.
“While his passing has created a void in the performing arts will take generations to fill, we are consoled by the fact that he left a legacy that has inspired and will continue to inspire generations.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family he left behind.
“Adieu Uncle Jimi!”
He reportedly died at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.
Born July 1942, Jimi Solanke will be remembered for his versatility in the arts.
He was a Fim Actor, Dramatist, Folk Singer, Poet and Playwright.
