Broda Shaggi: How Stray Bullet Nearly Killed Me And Why I Cried Daily
Popular Nigerian Comedian and Actor, Samuel Animashaun Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has finally broken his silence months after a tragic incident that nearly cost him his life.
Speaking in a deeply personal interview released on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the entertainer recounted the terrifying moment he was hit by a stray bullet earlier this year.
According to Shaggi, the ordeal occurred on March 9, 2026, right after wrapping up a brand activation shoot near the Sango-Ota bridge area.
“We were done shooting and got stuck in heavy traffic. Suddenly, there was a loud bang, and everything went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear a word. When I touched my hip, my hands were covered in blood. That was when I realised I had been shot,” he shared.
He revealed that he lost consciousness shortly after and spent the trip to the hospital praying desperately for his life.
The Comedian’s journey to recovery was far from easy.
He was initially rushed to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where staff tried frantically to locate the entry wound.
However, due to a lack of emergency equipment, he had to be rushed to another medical centre in Ikeja GRA.
It was at the Ikeja facility where emergency surgeons stabilised him, but the long road to recovery had only just begun.
Shaggi disclosed that he spent months bedridden, unable to move his leg or predict if he would ever walk or perform again.
“I felt so helpless. I would watch my colleagues upload new skits and burst into tears because I didn’t know if I’d ever return to the screen. I was terrified people would forget me,” he admitted.
Describing March 9 as a day he wishes he could erase from memory, the skit maker has now officially marked his return with a project titled, “The Second Chance.”
Expressing profound gratitude to God and his fans, Broda Shaggi assured everyone that he is back, stronger, and ready to create content once more.
