Magun: Osun Woman Arrested Over Vigilante Man’s Death After Sex With Her In Ile-Ife
The Osun State Police Command has reportedly arrested a woman after a vigilante member, identified as Sunday and popularly known as “Apetu,” reportedly died shortly after she and her suspected lover engaged in sex in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday.
A video circulating on social media showed the man rolling on the street as people shouted “Magun,” meaning he had sex with a married woman who had been laced with a “thunderbolt” charm.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30pm in the Odi-Olokun area of Ile-Ife, with the woman later taken into custody at the Moore Police Division.
In the video, Apetu was seen gasping and screaming on the street, while holding on to the woman.
He showed signs of severe physical distress and desperation.
“Urinate in his mouth!” some bystanders shouted from a safe distance, while some mocked the lady over her perceived infidelity.
Panic stricken, she responded: “I don’t know him!”
However, the man eventually breathed his last close to the spot.
According to a situation report attributed to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Apetu was found gasping and screaming on the street, while holding on to the woman.
The report adds that the cause of Apetu’s death has not been officially established, despite claims by some residents that he died from what they described as a “thunderbolt’, the traditional belief that a person affected by a supposed “thunderbolt” spell could harm another person through sexual contact.
However, the claim has not been established as a medical or scientific explanation for the death.
His remains were deposited at the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
