Nigeria Migrates To Online Verification Of Academic Certificates
Nigeria’s Federal Government has moved the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates online, ending the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education physically.
It said that the online system would make it possible for institutions, employers and other relevant bodies to verify academic qualifications through a more structured process.
The ministry disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
According to the statement the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, applicants could now complete the certificate evaluation and authentication process through the ministry’s dedicated online platform.
“The initiative is a major step in the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.” Alausa said.
Additionally, the new system was designed to reduce delays in processing applications and to make the service easier for access by Nigerians and applicants outside the country, according to the statement.
The statement bore the signature of the education ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade.
