Nigerian Dancer Poco Lee Remanded In UK Jail For Alleged Sexual Assault
Popular Nigerian dancer and hype man, Iweh Odinaka aka Poco Lee, is currently remanded in custody in a United Kingdom prison over an alleged assault offence.
The situation reportedly stems from allegations by female Rapper Ms Jorji on Wednesday, August 19.
Jorji alleged that Poco Lee had attempted to sexually assault her and her friend.
The Founder of the Community of Nigerians in the UK, Benjamin Kuti aka Oluomo of Derbu, confirmed the detention of the entertainer.
In a statement released on X today August 24, Kuti said Poco Lee was expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London in for a plea hearing.
He also said he intended to attend the proceedings and offer support to the Nigerian entertainer.
Reports about Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating on social media on August 19, although details surrounding the alleged incident remain limited.
The development follows reports that Poco Lee was allegedly arrested in the UK, which began circulating on social media on Tuesday, August 18.
The reports generated considerable reactions online, with details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest remaining the subject of public discussion.
Oluomo of Derby said he intended to attend the forthcoming court proceedings as part of his efforts to support members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.
He also appealed to members of the public to refrain from reaching conclusions before the court determines the matter.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” he said.
