Parents have protested as the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) has ordered students to submit A4 papers to the state-owned institution.
Protesting, Dr. Otimeyin Pius for “Concerned Parents,” said:
“It is disheartening to hear about the outrageous demands made by the management of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma on students, particularly regarding the submission of a rim of A4 paper before signing administrative clearances.
“This kind of requirement is indeed unbecoming of an institution, especially considering the recent increase in school fees.
“The mandatory submission of a rim of A4 paper per signing, costing Four Thousand Naira per student, for at least four different signatures during registration, amounting to a total of Sixteen Thousand Naira, is excessive.
“Such practices can potentially lead to corrupt behavior among the staff. It is crucial for the state government or the management of the institution to reconsider their stand and take necessary action to provide the required stationery for its staff.
“As concerned parties, it is important to emphasize the need for transparent and accountable systems within educational institutions. The demands placed on students should be reasonable and justified, ensuring that their education is not hindered by financial burdens or unethical practices. The state government and the institution’s management should work together to address these concerns and create an environment that promotes integrity, fairness, and accessibility in education.“
