Peter Obi Vows Life Jail For Hard Drug Importers

The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has vowed to push for the life sentence for importers of hard drugs into Nigeria should he become President in 2027.

Obi made the vow on Saturday during a town hall meeting with NDC members and supporters in Kaduna State.

He also urged candidates of other political parties to avoid making unrealistic campaign promises that they cannot fulfil if elected into office.

“If I assume office as President of Nigeria, anybody importing hard drugs will face a life sentence. Our youths have died a lot because of hard drugs,” he said.

He called on political parties to focus on the challenges facing Nigerians by engaging directly with the people.

The former Anambra State Governor also pledged to spend his annual holidays in Nigeria rather than abroad if elected President.

According to him, the President should remain close to the people and use such periods to visit different parts of the country, especially communities facing insecurity and other challenges.
