Sowore Granted ₦200m Bail, Freed

‎The Federal High Court in Abuja today Tuesday granted bail to Activist and SaharaREPORTERS Publisher Omoyele Sowore in the sum of ₦200 million.

The Judge thereafter released the defendant to his lawyers and adjourned the case until Monday, July 6, for the opening of Sowore’s defence.

Justice Mohammed Umar granted the ₦200 million bail to the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), who is facing alleged cybercrime charges over making allegations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the social media.

‎Bail conditions included:

‎• Two sureties in like sum

‎• One must be a traditional ruler from his community

‎• The other must own property in Abuja

‎Justice Mohammed Umar noted Sowore’s willingness to face trial, acknowledging that he appeared in court voluntarily.

‎The case has been adjourned to July 6 for continuation of trial.

In addition, Umar ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court pending the determination of the case.
