In all my over 40 years of media practice, I have never seen this:  A situation where the man who has submitted himself for media grilling and scrutiny would suddenly become the one calling the shots.

Sure, the likes of Governor Nasir El-Rufai at Chatham House would have been embarrassed by this development. How would a man who came to answer questions from the audience suddenly become the person pointing at others, selecting them to answer questions put to him? Guess Asiwaju Bola Tinubu mischievously underrated the full import of that event.

My conclusion is that our “star” must have arrived at the escapist approach to hide his inadequacies. These include his health (dementia and drug-related inadequacies); his mental inadequacies (Parkinson’s, memory loss, etc..) and other age-related inadequacies.

The reality is that he is no more fit, mentally and physically, to occupy any exalted office, particularly the highly sensitive one of President of Nigeria’s Federal Republic.

His spin-doctors are already making justification for Tinubu delegating his responsibility. God help Nigeria if we have to travel this dangerous road again:  A situation where state actors will begin to work at cross-purposes, agencies of government will oppose one another. The falcon will not hear the falconer? God forbid!!

The implications are far-reaching. We must individually and collectively condemn this action and ensure that we stand against this sinful innovation. The international community would have been thoroughly amused about this development. We have become a laughing stock. Oh, what a great pity!
