Tinubu Rejects N1bn Ransom For 286 Abducted Kaduna Students, Teachers

The Federal Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordering that the kidnapped 286 Kaduna students be rescued without the payment of the N1 billion ransom demanded by their abductors.

He gave strict instructions to the security agencies to free without any payment the school children, some older students and members of the school staff abducted on March 7.

TheNewsGiant had reported on Wednesday that the kidnappers had placed a N1 billion ransom on for the kidnapped students and teachers.

Kidnappers Want N1bn For 286 Abducted Kaduna Students

His position was announced at a press briefing by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation in Abuja, following the FEC meeting.

Idris said the President has ordered the security forces to pursue the kidnappers and make sure they freed the hostages and returned them to their families without a ransom.

The bandits had kidnapped the over 280 students and teachers from Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Kaduna State.

One student was reportedly shot when the bandits invaded the area and opened fire on their victims in the Kuriga region of Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government region.
