As family and comrades mark Comrade Yinka Odumakin’s 59th posthumous birthday today
Our Heavenly Father’s omniscience
Remains forever unchallenged
As to why his servant abruptly Departed the terrestrial plane
For a place in the celestial plane
Our spirits are now strengthened
By his footprints which remain visible
Though his walk through paths of life
Sliced through intricate webs in time
We honour his choice to stand his ground.
His memory will remain indelible
As we look in retrospect
Generations unborn will cherish
His heroic sacrifices for the hoi polloi
Comrades left behind
Will always keep the flame he lighted
And ensure it is not quenched
By the whistling wind
Together we stand as one family
Our tears long dried
Undaunted we remain
Our hearts uplifted by his legacies
Prepared to keep the flag flying
