Tinubu Owes Nigerians Accountability Not Excuses On Gbajabiamila-Adeyemi Fake Agency Scandal -ADCs Owokoniran
The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, has described the alleged fake Federal agency scandal as a deeply troubling development that raised serious questions about the regime of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s glaring dislocation from accountability, transparency, and due diligence.
Owokoniran said Tinubu must provide full disclosure on the matter no matter whose ox got gored.
Accusations have swung between the supposed CEO of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, and the Chief of Staff to the Nigerian leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, over the legitimacy, operations and sleaze in the controversial agency.
Owokoniran said it was unacceptable that while millions of Nigerians were battling crippling economic hardship, rising insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, unemployment, inflation, and the declining standard of education and healthcare, the nation was confronted with reports suggesting that a non-existent Federal agency allegedly operated within government structures and even secured official privileges.
He said: “This is not merely about one individual or one agency. It is about the integrity of our public institutions. Nigerians deserve a full, transparent, and independent investigation. Those found culpable whether through negligence, complicity, or abuse of office must be held accountable in accordance with the law.”
Owokoniran stated that the scandal further exposed the urgent need to strengthen governance, improve institutional oversight, and restore public confidence in government.
He noted that at a time when Nigerians were making enormous sacrifices under difficult economic conditions, “Every kobo of public resources must be protected and every public office must be held to the highest standard of accountability.
“Nigeria cannot afford governance that leaves room for avoidable controversies while citizens struggle daily to survive.
“Our people deserve leadership that inspires confidence, protects public resources, and places national interest above personal or political considerations.”
He reaffirmed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) remained committed to building a Nigeria founded on transparency, accountability, security, economic recovery, and inclusive governance.
According to Owokoniran, the ADC Presidential Candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and his Running Mate, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, possessed the experience, competence, and leadership required to restore public trust, revive the economy, strengthen institutions, tackle insecurity decisively, create jobs, and return Nigeria to the path of sustainable growth.
He warned: “The choice before Nigerians is clear. Our nation deserves leadership that works for the people, protects national institutions, promotes accountability, and restores hope.
“The Atiku-Amaechi ticket offers that credible alternative and represents the best opportunity to rescue Nigeria from its present challenges.”
