The Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG has elected new leaders to steer its affairs, with Comrade Augustine Egbo emerging as the new National Chairman.
Egbo’s victory was announced by the Returning Officer, Comrade Osunbor Idahoise, and endorsed by the Registrar of Trade Unions, Amos Falonipe, in the presence of NUPENG President, Comrade (Prince) Williams Akporeha, NUPENG General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale (who doubles as the National Caretaker Secretary of PTD-NUPENG) and NUPENG Veteran/PTD Technical Adviser, Comrade Joseph Iranola Akinlaja, among others.
At the election that held on Monday October 31, at the University of Ibadan Conference Centre, Egbo defeated his opponent, Lucky Osesua, the incumbent PTD Chairman, who reportedly absented himself after originally filing papers to re-contest the position.
Subsequently, 601 comrades, who gathered for the PTD Branch Special Delegates Conference, endorsed Egbo’s emergence as new National Chairman of the PTD mobile arm of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
Egbo will be leading a new National Executive to replace that led by Comrade Lucky Osesua.
Also elected were: Malut Abubakar (National Deputy Chairman 1), Odinakachi Nwafor (National Deputy Chairman 2) and Oluchi Chinagorom (National Secretary).
